Genesis 1:26
About creating human beings in God's image.

We will take the interpretation that God created "Life Itself" in Gods image. Therefore it should be possible to gain some understanding of "God Itself" by studying "Life Itself".

Christian theology has "God Itself" consisting of three indivisible aspects (or components):
  • Holy Spirit
  • Son
  • Father.

An interesting definition of "Life Itself" can be found in the work of Robert Rosenexternal link where "Life Itself" consists of three indivisible components:
  • metabolism
  • repair
  • repair of repair
(see his book Life Itself, 1991external link and metabolismrepair.comexternal link)

We will attempt to "map" a definition of the Christian notion of "God Itself" onto Robert Rosen's definition of "Life Itself" and then follow it to its logical conclusions.

Consider the following relationship between the three Trinity components:

The open arrows represent a conversion of something into something else. The filled arrows represent the agent that does the conversion. Together, the relationships describe a self-contained Entity where each component has a roll in entailing (or accounting for) another component of the Trinity.

The "Holy Spirit" converts a human into the "Son".
The "Father" converts the "Son" into the "Holy Spirit".
The "Son" converts the "Holy spirit" into the "Father".

The circular reasoning will be explained in a later posting.

Interestingly, humans are needed in the process. We might need to tweak the story of Genesis a bit. smile

Contrast this relational diagram with the conventional diagram of the Trinity which says that each component of the Trinity is God but that each component is not equivalent to the other components. The conventional Trinity diagram does not address entailment of the three components.
